Planning for architects

As a practice spanning the architecture-planning divide, with a team drawn from both disciplines (and more), we are well placed to act as an interpreter between two fields of practice which sometimes appear to speak very different languages. Architects frequently don't understand what planners in local authorities are really looking for - leading to frustration and difficulty, as well as delays and costs to their clients.

Director Hana Loftus was commissioned by the RIBA Journal to write a series of articles looking at important planning issues and how architects could better respond.
