Science Museum Groups Entrance

The Groups Entrance at the Science Museum is used by a million schoolchildren each year, making it one of the most heavily used indoor spaces in London. We are refurbishing it to create a fitting and inspiring welcome to the Museum for visitors, as well as improving people flow, storage facilities and sightlines.

Based on detailed working with the Museum's visitor teams to understand the complex requirements of different groups, we are using simple interventions and colour to enliven currently uninspiring spaces. One of the most challenging parts of the project has been creating new mobile storage units for bags and coats, which are required to meet many difficult functional requirements as well as being pleasing pieces of design. The project was completed alongside our new Smith Centre supporters' centre for the Musuem.
